One of the good guys, Lowell Special Event’s coordinator Andy St. Onge has died unexpectedly. The Lowell Sun is reporting:
Andrew St. Onge, Lowell’s longtime special-events coordinator, died suddenly late Thursday night of what is believed to be a brain aneurysm.
While the details of his death were unavailable Thursday night, Mayor Edward “Bud” Caulfield said St. Onge died suddenly at around 10 p.m., in his home on Andover Street in Lowell.
As word circulates of St. Onge’s death on Friday, Caulfield said he expects City Hall and the community will be shocked and saddened by the loss.
“Our hearts and prayers go out to his family,” Caulfield said last night.
As the special-events coordinator for the past decade, St. Onge has had a hand in every major event in Lowell, from the Folk Festival to Riverfest.
“Every major function, Andy was there,” Caulfield said. “He did an incredible job for the city. He was such a hands-on kind of guy. If there was something going on in the city, he was involved.”
