Robin Leach Defends McCain

In a hilarious twist, TMP reports that Robin Leach of the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous TV show has come to the defense of John McCain.

LATimes Blog. Leach explaining how McCain couldn’t provide an answer to the question about how many houses he owns.

In an early morning phone call Friday from his fabulous crib in Las Vegas, Leach told The Times that he isn’t really surprised at McCain’s odd memory lapse given the complex lives that the super-rich lead.

“He probably was confused as to which homes are in his name, his wife’s name, or corporate names,” Leach explained in his familiar, deep British baritone. “In his attempt to be honest, he put his foot in his mouth.”

As Josh noted, probably not the best surrogate.

    Given the various numbers floating about, it might be useful to have a clear description of what we know McCain owns. This is trickier than it looks: The McCains have a variety of limited liability companies and family trusts (just like normal people!), including the Dream Catcher Family LLC, Wild River LLC, The Cindy Hensley McCain Trust, and the Marguerite Hensley Survivors Trust, which are all officially controlled by McCain’s wife and children. Someone should ask McCain if he knows how many holding companies he has.
