Now that’s what McCain likes about her – she’s willing to shadow govern. But seriously, this needs to be vetted and presented to the electorate. Very seriously damning stuff.

p>It is stunning what is coming out tonight about how sudden, how impulsive this decision for Palin was. Palin still had her ad with Ted Stevens up on her website through that night, they’ve met only once, and he made the final decision the night before. It’s like they threw a dart at a board.

Funny thing – a brand new editor showed up, and the only place this editor made changes was in the Sarah Palin entry…
maybe start planning the inauguration which could be held out on the salt flats where we could bus 300,000,000 people while simulcasting the event worldwide on every TV in the world.

Teddy Roosevelt (42 years old, had served as Gov. of NY for 2 1/4 years before being tapped for VP)..conservationist, conservative, reformer, bull moose…stood up to corruption in both parties…
Before becoming governor of New York, TR:
– led the Rough Riders up San Juan Hill
– served as Assistant Secretary of the Navy
– served as a refomer on the US Civil Service Commission
– served as president of the NY City Board of Police Commissioners, a slightly larger and more challenging department than Wasilla, AK.
– served as a member of the NY Assembly.
As McCain is pointing out today, being on a small, local PTA as Palin was really in important part of preparing for…something.

Palin is to McCain as TR is to Garfield…not as Palin is to Roosevelt…
<
p>It is impossible to fairly compare TR to Palin because in 1900 women were not allowed to be military leaders, Sec. of any federal dept., or big city commissions…and could not even vote for the men who were running every show. Who’s to know what women would have accomplished had they not been barred from the door.
<
p>Like many of his era, TR came from an exceedingly wealthy family and therefore received plum appointments to push paper in the federal and state governments. His elected service was limited to the NY Assembly and as Governor for 2 years. His Rough Rider (aggressively self-promoted) celebrity more than his 2 years of gubernatorial experience got him Garfield’s nod for VP. Garfield was not anticipating being killed and leaving the office to TR.
