The National Anthem concert is this Friday! And it is going to be great. We’ve seen a surge in ticket sales over the weekend, presumably in part as a result of our mention in Kate’s DDem Dispatch, and of course last Friday’s Globe article talking up the concert, so we expect to have a large and enthusiastic crowd on hand. [Thursday update, by David: we have sold 700 tickets, and have raised over $40,000! If you haven’t bought tickets yet, do it now — the good seats are starting to get scarce!]
And you should be part of it! If you haven’t bought tickets yet, please do so now — it’ll be much easier than buying them at the door (which will be cumbersome because we have to comply with campaign finance regulations).
Also, for the singers among you, there will be an audience participation number at the end of the concert. You’ll have the opportunity to sing in the famous Toreador chorus from Carmen, alongside well-known baritone Robert Honeysucker. Should be great fun. If you are interested, buy a ticket and then email me for the music.
Thanks, and I hope we’ll see you Friday night!

Were that line to show up on RMG, the only question I ponder is which woman would be subject to the catty, sexist, and utterly predictable “witty comeback”. Hillary Clinton? Nancy Pelosi? Michelle Obama — or one of her children?

That’s just lipstick on a, well, oh never mind.

This shouldn’t be something the editors worry about, but is anyone game for a pre- or post-opera beverage? Suggest a time and place nearby, and we can go from there…

Opera – eh.
Beer – yeh.

are gathering at Betty’s Wok and Noodle on September 12th,
<
p>One block from the concert hall at 250 Huntington Ave. is Betty’s Wok and Noodle, which is a very fun Asian-themed bar and restaurant. They serve beer, wine, and sake-based cocktails (no hard liquor).

I somehow edited out the time when I meant to delete the date.

p>We expect to be there from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.

But I offered to show up early to help out if David and Charley need it, plus I’m always tagged for percussion equipment duty no matter what. (Though this opera gig is lighter on perc than our usual fare.) Afterwards, Mr. Lynne might just want to go home. Something about having to slog around in a tux. đŸ™‚
<
p>However, if anyone from the general metrowest area were to offer me a ride home afterwards, I’m game for staying out for a decent BMG night out!!
<
p>Anyone know a good place to park if I need to take the car into Boston for this gig?

One place that’s somewhat nearby that I’ve had luck in the past is the Back Bay Fens, where there’s non-metered non-permit parking. It is about a 15 minute walk to the Symphony from there.

I take credit for the surge in ticket sales. Not quite sure why you are giving the Globe credit. I credit the DDemDispatch. đŸ˜‰

Seriously, reservation or hunt about? Kinda looking for people? Marc and I have tickets and plan to connect at Betty’s as the concert isn’t until 8:00 and is so close. I plan to take the T, actually.
