For the past four years, I have had the honor of representing both Medford and Somerville. I have done my best to work hard, to fight with passion and commitment, and most importantly, to deliver for the working families of our community.
We have had many successes, including securing funding for important programs for our youth, our seniors, and our parks and open space, raising the minimum wage, closing corporate tax loopholes, preserving marriage equality, and keeping the green line extension on schedule.
I made a conscious effort to keep my campaign focused on issues important to our community. Despite the challenge of running on stickers, you voted resoundingly in favor of continued progress and leadership on the values we share.
I will continue to keep an open door and be responsive to your concerns. Whether you are a constituent seeking support for your family, or a resident advocating for a policy or issue important to you, I welcome your feedback and questions. Please contact me any time, and I will do my best to hear you out, to advocate for your concerns, and to find common ground where we might otherwise disagree.
I commit to continuing to work hard and to deliver for our community, and I thank the voters of the 34th Middlesex District for your continued trust and support.
Sincerely,
Carl Sciortino
State Representative

what an example of showing that hard work pays off… and that IDs can win elections.

Your campaign was textbook organizing. Ab-fab. I was happy to give you five hours on election day handing out stickers.

For all your hard work for the people of Somerville and Medford,
For passionately fighting for what you believe in and thoughtfully answering correspondence from constituents, even when we disagree,
For being a true leader in the State house and working to make a better life not only for Medford and Somerville, but all of the Commonwealth,
And for running such an energetic campaign, even when the odds looked long,
<
p>Thank you, Carl! Thank you!

For putting yourself out there, and for being an example of what legislators can be and do in Massachusetts.
<
p>I’ve never seen that many volunteers on a state rep campaign.

That was perhaps the most satisfying campaign victory I’ve ever been associated with. Thank you for all your hard work in the legislature. It was that hard work that made this victory possible.

You guys are a well oiled machine. Good job.
<
p>I hope most of you, like all normal people – that’s why young republicans are so freakin creepy – get a little less lefty as u grow old; and make great long lasting friends and memories from a campaign like this.
<
p>And I hope u all eventually own a business or have great jobs in business and 40 years from now say “what the christ were we thinking?” But of course, glad you did it.
<
p>Carry On

Sean O’Donovan.
eury13 says
Did he get 1,000? How many in Somerville? How many in Carl’s district?
<
p>Anyone know where this info might be hiding?
eury13 says
In Somerville, there were 656 write-in votes cast for Register of Probate on the Working Families Party ticket. Of those, a total of 38 were cast in Sciortino’s district.

<
p>I can’t find Medford’s results online, but I can’t imagine that O’Donovan got 400+ WFP votes in Sciortino’s district in Medford to exceed the difference between Carl and Trane.
<
p>Looks to me like O’Donovan did a decent job focusing his efforts outside of the 34th Middlesex district.

People wanted to support him, but didn’t want to pass up voting on the main attraction. (Not that it did him any good…) There were also a lot of funny write-in votes, including “NOT HIM”, “Anyone else”, “myself”, “An honest”, and someone who just wrote a bunch of X’s through Buonomo’s name.

I called them this morning. They say their official counts are not complete yet, and they won’t release any information at all until Monday.
