It appears that the House Republicans are asking for adjustments to a bipartisan deal. The problem facing Speaker Pelosi is that the bipartisan deal is a compromise borne of necessity and is likely to be politically unpopular. If she can’t get the Republicans to go along, they’ll vote no and then campaign against the deal.
Time to remind the GOP what it means to be in the minority.
Pelosi, Frank, Dodd & Co. should pull the deal off the table and replace it with a truly progressive deal. The Republicans can vote against it all they want.
