Two themes–really, one theme, with the other in reserve to vary the rhythm–will bury McCain and put our folks in the White House. And you know them already, but repetition and discipline will elevate them into a winning formula.
John McCain and the Republicans are out of touch with most Americans, both on the ground and on the issues.
On the ground McCain thinks millionaires are the middle class and doesn’t know how many houses he owns. On the issues he takes extreme positions on such issues as choice, more tax cuts for the wealthy, and national security.
Obama is among other things a very disciplined campaigner personally but I do not give his campaign high marks for focus. The campaign should dip into the war chest now and drum the above message home. It will knock McCain down so low that he will not be able to struggle back.
During the debates Obama should be relentless and answer every question–every question–with this message. “I honor the Senator’s past heroism but his extreme views are out of touch with America.” “The threats abroad are serious and need to be met by someone who is in touch with most Americans on the issues, unlike John McCain.” “I also love puppies but the fact is that Americans reject John McCain’s extreme views and know perfectly well how many houses they own.”
The second theme–which I will not develop ad nauseum and besides you all know it–is that McCain lacks the judgment and temperament to be President. (No need to mention Palin; it’s understood.) Revert to as needed between bouts of attacking John McCain’s extreme views.
This campaign has scored some brilliant attacks against McCain. Without repetition, though, these are just bon mots, flashes in the pan.
As I said, Obama may be able to win another way. But this way is bullet proof. (And, it has coattails down ticket.) Considering what’s at stake I hope he decides to take it.

The tide is changing and the Republicans are coming back. First the White House, then the Supreme Court, then Congress will be flushed of the manure working there.

p>Hopefully McCain trumpets the money of the Democratic Congress including the $4.2Million BO made last year vs. his $237K.

p>BO will lose I will will do a dance on Election Day!!! And then blog for 3 days without sleeping on this site đŸ™‚

from 130,000 donors. The Repubs raised 1 Million after Palin’s speech.

p>Yes, the Repubs have really energized their base!

I’d love to send more money to McCain but I have to pay for all these illegal immigrant’s medical bills, food stamps, health insurance and in-state tuition. I’m hoping to send some next month since I’ll be hiring a few workers for yard work at $2/hour and will have some spare change.
<
p>How are all these Dems contributing so much money when they don’t have jobs, houses have been foreclosed, don’t go out to eat, don’t go shopping… Something is wrong with this equation!!!!

That last eight years under the rule of a Republican president, abetted by a Congress fiercely in the Republicans’ grip for 6 of those years, really screwed ya, haven’t they?
johnd says
Another RANT coming… The last 8 years have been fantastic for me financially to be honest . Although it had nothing to do wit the government and everything to do with the economy. I don’t feel bad for many of the people suffering right now since most of them only have themselves to blame for it.
<
p>Housing pricing coming down is a correction that has been forecasted for sometime now and I’m sure surpirsed few people in the Real Estate market. People being greedy and over extending themselves are also paying for it. The banking industy hould be taking a huge beating and it is unfortunate that the government had to step in to help them vs. massive bank closings. They should be treated like everyone else (ARM loans…) who put their money on RED and spun the wheel again only to have the ball land on BLACK. Stupid things to gamble on.
<
p>So… the equity loans for boob jobs, new cars, paying off credit cards… are all looking like stupid things to have done as they now face financial challenges but maybe this is part of the learning process for them.
<
p>Hopefully going forward we will see very tight mortgage requirements (min 10% down payment, very good credit, job security, realistic home evaluations…) and we can have people sign in blood that the ARM loan they are taking out has risks which they have to acknowledge. AND I would support long prison terms for any unscrupulous mortgage lender who either lies or commits fraud in the mortgage process.
<
p>I also hope the Democratic congress gets off their asses and does something. They have been a useless Congress as far as I can see (other than passing FISA, funding the war, Stimulus checks…). And if they finally do something I hope it is constructive vs. raising capital gains taxes… which will ruin the economy even worse. Obama and others have to realize that we have a world economy now and Rich people (you know, those making over $5M like every Professional Athlete, Hollywood star, US Senator) can move their money ANYWHERE they want. They can figure out how to avoid taxes (not like Charlie Rangel) and just not pay them (not like Wesley Snipes what an a-hole).
<
p>Excuse me but I have to go hire some illegal immigrants off the corner for $2/hour to clean my pool. And maybe I can send money to the Republican Party from the savings!!!

She got voters.

p>I know several young people who are registering, voting, and spreading the word, as a result of that speech.
<
p>I spoke with a thirty-something today who has heretofore been apolitical, and is now energized and voting McCain/Palin.
<
p>Go ahead, be dismissive. I love it.
