Obama needs to respond right away tonight and beyond with thoughtful response ads. The message should simply build on what Obama has been saying – that the Republicans have nothing to offer except personal attacks. Here goes a script for a GOP-convention response ad.

Dividing America to win an election. [SLIDING INTO A QUICK STILL PICTURE OF KARL ROVE]
Frame Two: [AGAINST SLIDE PICTURES OF A FORECLOSED HOME, AN EXPLODED HUMVEE AND A YOUNG SICK-LOOKING CHILD IN HIS DISTRESSED MOTHER’S ARMS]
For eight years John McCain’s Republican Party has brought our economy to its knees and left our military overstretched. They’ve spent us back into crushing deficits and let millions more go without health care.
Frame Three: [AGAINST SLIDING PICTURES OF GEIZARDLY REPUBLICAN DELEGATES CHEERING WILDLY WHILE WEARING SOME VISIBLE NASTY OBAMA BUTTONS AND CARRYING CRAZY SIGNS]
They had one week to talk about how they could fix those problems. Instead, they spent a week saying nasty things about me.
Frame Four: [NEXT SHOT IS OF OBAMA IN COLLARED SHIRT HIMSELF SITTING IN A TRADITIONAL LOOKING AMERICAN LIVING ROOM AND TALKING DIRECTLY INTO THE CAMERA]
America we don’t need the same old politics of personal attacks. We need new solutions.
