Nobama use the pig/lipstick analogy. Why hadn’t he used it before? If he had been using it all along it would be acceptable to me. Now that the woman is a Republican, it is ok to slander women? Is it ok to call Nobama a zebra? I believe that used to be the offensive description for mulatto. No disrespect intended toward wonen and mulattos. I personally don’t care who you are as long as you’re a good person.
Again, I stress the point, no disrespect intended toward anyone. I personally find all slurs distasteful.

to pigs. And Palin owes an apology to pit bulls.
<
p>You’re absolutely right; politicians should all try to be more sensitive to avoid slandering other mammals.
tblade says
If it comes out that Obama has used the phrase before, will you change your mind?
<
p>Are you equally upset about John McCain saying the same thing about Hillary?

tblade says
Or have you not actually read the quote?
<
p>
<
p>So I guess either you are being disingenuous/dishonest and give McCain a pass because he is a Republican, or your equally upset about both “slanders”.
lodger says
And I agree with you, both statements are irrelevant. Let’s move on to substantive issues. And yes I had read the quote, otherwise I wouldn’t have commented. The whole controversy is silly and McCain is not impressing me with his complaints. They’re hollow.
tblade says
My bad. I thought you were saying that what Obama said was some how “outrageous”.
david says
who started the whole lipstick on mammals thing?
<
p>Answer: yes. Sorry, but to whatever extent this is an issue at all, she brought it on herself.

You could see the hesitation as he made the conscious decision to go with it.
<
p>After the way his chief Democrat rival was treated throughout the primaries, one might think His Nibs would be a bit more circumspect in the way he attacks his female opponents.
<
p>One might also wonder why he has not learned a lesson from the slap down Governor Palin served him at the convention – in direct response to his own ham handed derision of her resume just two days earlier.
<
p>Barack Obama has exhibited a general attitude towards women that is, to say the least, troubling.
<
p>It remains to be seen whether he has the strength of character (or at least, the political pragmatism) to issue the required personal apology.
christopher says
This isn’t calling Palin a pig, though her own lipstick comment made it convenient. The point of course is that you can dress something up all you want, but it is still what it is.

Now there’s a real insult.
geo999 says
Obama’s arrogant refusal to acknowledge the impropriety of his moronic comment will keep this front-and-center for at least one more cycle.
<
p>He could have diffused this, put it away.
<
p>He could even have shown some class, some humor, and come away lookin’ somewhat good.
<
p>Instead, he chose petulance. He dug in.
<
p>Mr. Obama, you disappoint me.
<
p>You’re not half as bright as I had feared.

p>”I think that both General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker are capable people who have been given an impossible assignment,” Sen. Barack Obama said yesterday in a telephone interview. “George Bush has given a mission to General Petraeus, and he has done his best to try to figure out how to put lipstick on a pig.”
<
p>He’s used it before. You may apologize now.

Where are you billxi?
<
p>You have time to post more allegations of racism against Obama (thank you very much, Mr. Mulatto) but you don’t seem to have the time or the honor to respond to sabutai’s crystal-clear comment.

p>What’s up?

they knew he wouldn’t be able to resist using one of his favorite metaphors, so they set him up? You’d think he’d have seen it coming though, he should have known how it would come across and be portrayed if he said it again, so soon after 40 Million people watch her speech. Not very astute, for someone supposedly so intelligent and good with words and diplomacy. Unless of course he was happy to change the subject away from experience…
