The numbers don’t lie! Here is pollster.com’s aggregate of polls from August through the present. You will notice two critical points: Point “A,” the point in September at which, having been behind for a few days, Obama’s trend line crossed back over McCain’s and stayed there; and Point “B,” the recent point at which, after a momentary dip for Obama and surge for McCain, the trend lines reversed and regained the desired direction: up for Obama, down for McCain.
As you can see by hovering over the appropriate data points on the original graph at this link, Point A is on or about September 12, the date on which the National Anthem concert raised over $50,000 for the Obama campaign, with much of that support coming from you. Point B is on or about October 20, the date on which BMG donations surged in response to our offer to match your donations. Can there be any doubt? QED, right?
Important note to the humor impaired: I’m kidding. But I do think that grassroots efforts like ours, multiplied many, many times around the country, are what will make the difference on November 4.

On a more sober note, please also help Obama save himself from the label The New Jim Crow by getting him to state publicly that it is simultaneously ok to to be against SSM (as he is) and to vote NO on the anti-marriage Proposition 8 in CA, Amendment 2 in FL or Proposition 102 in AZ. Stripping a minority of constitutional rights is unfair, unnecessary and just plain wrong. Obama needs to stake out the middle ground and lead others who would vote “yes” to that place so that they will vote “no”. He will not do it if we don’t require it of him, so speak up now or forever hear me bitching about being crapped on by yet another political hack/civil rights wimp.

but just in case: Joe Biden was squarely asked this question on Ellen DeGeneres’s show, and he answered it without dodging or hedging: “If I lived in California, I’d clearly vote against Prop 8.”

The popular wisdom is that people will be coming out in droves to vote for Obama, not for Biden, right? So it’s great what Biden said, but it doesn’t matter to voters in November. In CA in particular, Obama is really drawing out the black vote, which tends to support Prop 8 at a higher rate than any other dem voting demographic. Who do you think can best speak to them on this issue? Same goes in FL.

I mean, he’s on record as being against Prop 8 and its brethren in other states.

One statement 5 months before the election we all know is nigh on worthless. And I’ll answer your question with a question: have you asked him? You and BMG are major supporters. If you don’t ask, you’re not doing your job. I can’t force any person in the media to ask him the question, as I’m sure you are well aware. So it is up to Obama supporters to press him to come clean on this issue and to lead.

But I’ll try to get a comment from his campaign. Will report back.

Of course he’ll listen to you. đŸ˜€

If this comes down to a tight race — and I hope it doesn’t in the end — then look at the Pollster.com Table showing trend estimates for battleground states.
<
p>Of the Lean Dem states, Obama wins in Washington and Minnesota would put him on the doorstep — at 268 electoral votes.
<
p>If the election is close at that point, the two most likely states to put him over the 270 top are either NM’s 5 electoral votes, or NH’s 4 electoral votes.
<
p>Kerry beat Bush there in 2000 by a 1% margin, 50 to 49. 9,000 votes.

Washington is still definitely up for grabs if you go by indicators such as polls on the gubernatorial race, which are are still statistically tied. Gov. Gregoire (D) was an early, strong and very visible supporter of Obama. GOTV for her will do double duty as GOTV for Obama. It is definitely still a nail-biter in both races – I’m not counting these chickens before they vote.

Rufus Gifford, Chad and Ann Gifford’s son. A gay man (was married in Massachusetts, divorced, and together now with another man in California) and doing a bang-up job for Obama. Was listed in Out Magazine as a top 50 power gay in the US.
<
p>Would you like his mother’s email to ask her directly what Obama’s stance is on this? It’s unfortunate that Rufus is not pushing Obama!!!!

Where is Ernie Boch, III? Anyone know?
