What an extraordinary turnaround for this previously safe Republican seat.
A Republican source has confirmed to Election Central that the NRCC is indeed pulling all its advertising for Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), whose antics since her McCarthyist rant on Hardball have quickly put this once-safe incumbent in serious danger. Several hundred-thousand dollars worth of TV time had previously been reserved on Bachmann’s behalf, but now it has all been cancelled, as Huffington Post first reported.
Meanwhile, her Democratic opponent El Tinklenberg has received enormous financial support in the last several days (including quite a bit from BMG readers), and will get an additional $1 million from the DCCC.
Bachmann could well be going down. Help speed her on her way.

but the BMGEditor match that put it over the edge. When the RNC heard about that additional $25, they waved the white flag.

I was curious how this might have been seen at RedState. They regard this as part of the NRCC Problem. They hate Tom Cole’s leadership. In fact, this looks like a political mistake on the part of the NRCC. From the Republican point of view, it probably makes sense to do one of the following:
Instead, they did none of those things. They stopped funding her — and let it leak that they stopped funding her.

p>Losing makes one cranky. We’re hearing about a lot of that among Republican political operatives. The New York Times Sunday Magazine, according to a number of reports, is about to publish an article on the conflicts within the McCain-Palin campaign.
