Oh, what a beautiful morning,
Oh, what a beautiful day,
I got a beautiful feeling
Ev’rything’s going our way.
Oh, what a beautiful day.
I was canvassing in Concord today and this tune kept going through my mind. My partner and I canvassed in Hillsborough and enjoyed some absolutely glorious, rural, countryside. The foliage was spectacular! It was fun talking with voters and we lined up some supporters and recruited a volunteer.
We can win this one, but we have to work it. Please join us next Sunday 10/19. The BMG Canvass is shaping up to be a fun event. We are still looking for a place for dinner in Nashua.
Schedule:
11:30 Meet at HQ, 306 Amherst Street, Nashua.
12:00 Hit the streets.
5:00 PM Dinner and drinks.
I thought this might be a good opportunity for people to share their canvass stories and some canvass tips.
So please:
1) Send a suggestion for our dinner location.
2) Share a canvass story or picture.
3) Send a canvass hint.
I thought about Lori, aka lolorb, a lot today. The canvass is a tribute to her. I’ve been thinking about her recently as we plan the canvass. It made me think about friendship, staying in touch, staying connected and reaching out to people. Use the dinner and the canvass as a way to connect or re-connect with someone. Is there someone you have met volunteering and would like to get to know better? Send an invitation. Maybe there is someone here on BMG that you want to meet, invite him or her, either off-line or here in this thread. Maybe you know someone through another walk of life and have learned that you share a common political vision. Extend an invitation. Don’t procrastinate. Do it. Do it today.
I’ll have word as things shape up. Are there any requests? Try to keep them reasonable.

Peabody Obama-Biden grassroots coordinator Noreen Hazelton led a carpool to Portsmouth, NH, on Saturday, October 11. Where she discussed the campaign with Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, who was also canvassing out of the Portsmouth Obama-Biden office.
<
p>Lynn School Committee member Maria Carrasco brought canvassers to Nashua, NH, on Saturday too. Just like the school board member, Barack Obama understands urban issues and educational concerns of all people.
<
p>Needless to say, North Shore Obama-Biden supporters are energized to bring about change. Democrats are leading the way!
<
p>Locally, there was a visibility event at the Nahant rotary along the Lynn seashore on Friday, October 3, and another one last Friday in Wyoma Square. In addition to a sign holding for Obama-Biden in Danvers Square last Saturday.
<
p>A visibility event is scheduled for Peabody Square on Saturday morning, Oct 25.
<
p>Democrats are hosting a Pre-Election Reception at the AOH Hall at 58 Lowell Street in Peabody on Friday evening October 24. Lynn Democrats will hold their annual Unity Breakfast at Tatiana’s Restaurant at 70 Market Street in downtown Lynn on Sunday morning, October 26.
<
p>North Shore Democrats are doing their part with carpools to canvass in New Hampshire every weekend until the election. Obama-Biden enthusiasts are also phone banking.
<
p>The Beverly Democratic City Committee has an office downtown. Ipswich Dems have one in their town too. Cape Ann Dems have a headquarters in Gloucester.
<
p>The presidential election this year has really created great interest in issues important to all Americans. Voter registration has been phenomenal. The deadline to register to vote in the November 4 presidential election is fast approaching.
This was our fourth weekend canvassing in the Nashua area. We’ve had some fun encounters. Yesterday a woman stopped her car as we walked along the street and asked, “Are you out for Obama-Biden?” when we responded that we were, she asked if we had any buttons. We did, and she drove off happily with a handful.
I’m from Oklahoma. I hate to end up being one of the many BMG nitpickers, but…
<
p>That’s “wonderful feeling” not “beautiful feeling” as in:
<
p>Oh what a beautiful morning,
Oh what a beautiful day,
I’ve got a wonderful feeling,
Everything’s going my way.
I see there was an updated version that replaced “wonderful” with “beautiful” so that depending on what you use, either is acceptable. Sigh.
Except I intentionally changed “my way” to “our way” to match the sentiment.

p>Massmarrier, are you in for Sunday? We need to to get a count to Nashua soon. It would be great to have you join us. Kate
I’ve been thinking about this for a few days, and I can’t see the downside. How about if every city and town committee in Mass. picks a smalltown newspaper and NH and funds an Obama-Biden ad in that town’s local paper? I’m thinking that an advertisement in a local weekly wouldn’t cost more than $500 – pretty short money and a neat way for people who can’t make it up to New Hampshire to get involved. There are probably better strategic ways to spend the money, but I think this is novel way to make a difference and even build some cross-border relationships for the future.
anyone driving up from Boston? I know I could take the T in to North Station, then take the commuter rail to Lowell, then get a ride from there… but that’s an extra 1.5 hours each way +/-, if timed just right. I’d rather spend those 3 hours being more productive.
<
p>So — anyone heading up from Boston? Got room?
Kate,
<
p>Pat and I will be attending the BMG Canvass to honor you and to pay Tribute to Lori’s memory.
<
p>We’ll be driving up from Springfield, so I’ll be in touch about what the best way is for us to meet up with you.
<
p>Thanks so much for coming up with this idea, and for giving us an opportunity to share happiness and tears with you, our good friend, and with other friends; those we already know and those we haven’t yet met!
<
p>And, as a bonus, we’re helping to save our country — hell, the world! Lori would have approved!
