There’s fraud committed ON an organization seeking to register voters by $8/hour field workers, and then there’s fraud committed BY the OWNER of a company registering voters… http://www.latimes.com/news/lo…
SACRAMENTO — The owner of a firm that the California Republican Party hired to register tens of thousands of voters this year was arrested in Ontario late last night on suspicion of voter registration fraud.
State and local investigators allege that Mark Jacoby fraudulently registered himself to vote at a childhood California address where he no longer lives so he would appear to meet the legal requirement that signature gatherers be eligible to vote in California…
Several agencies had launched investigations into Jacoby’s activities, including the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office, which issued the warrant for his arrest earlier this month on felony charges of voter registration fraud and perjury…

I realize you are trying to make a point about Republicans being bad and hypocrites… but let’s stop. It seems everyday “something” falls off the list of central tenets of our country. They range from Christmas manger scenes on public property to burning US flags to driving mediocrity in our schools and workplace.
<
p>Our right to vote and have that vote “mean something” is exactly what so many people have died for and we need to do everything possible to make sure that right remains concrete and has unquestionable integrity.
<
p>The story above which you are posting about sounds like another example of a violation of this most basic right. Let’s stop playing politics with this “sacred” right and make sure everyone who is legally able to vote has that right and ANYONE who breaks the law in registering someone (or themselves) to vote illegally GOES TO JAIL. I may have to endure the angst of people saying I’m being sadistic by wanting people to be punished but I do. We have to stop saying things are wrong (SEC, CEO, bankers, politicians, borrowers…) and start punishing these people. Seems like in the past people were worried about doing the wrong thing because you got punished vs. today we send them to rehab or counseling.
<
p>If the California Republican party, Acorn or anyone else is breaking the law then prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law with NO REGARD to political affiliation. And politicians, more than anyone should be overly zealous about prosecuting violations like these, no matter who would benefit from the violations. There has been a tremendous attempts at “guilt by association” during this campaign and just as much dismissal of “guilt by association”. Well I think you ARE guilty by association if the circumstances support it and nobody would agree more with that than many of the liberals on this site.
<
p>There are many issues for us to argue about concerning politics, but illegal voter registration should be condemned by all and prosecution for ALL violators should be supported by all as well.
