The polls continue to fluctuate. Ohio, not all that surprisingly, has been reclassified by pollster.com as “tossup.” It had been “lean blue” for a week or so, and “tossup” before that. That’s unfortunate, but not unexpected, and it’s likely that Ohio will continue to swing back and forth as the days wind down to election day. Happily, even without OH in his column, Obama still has 313 EVs according to pollster.com’s analysis.
On a more positive note, the NY Times has been far more conservative in its projections than pollster.com and other aggregators (it still has OH, CO and FL as tossups, for instance, as well as showing MO and MT as “lean red”), to the great annoyance of Chris Bowers & Co. But the NYT has just reclassified VA as “lean blue” — and therefore, for the first time, the NYT’s analysis gives Obama more than 270 EVs.
Virginia, with 13 electoral votes, becomes the latest state to move from the toss-up to the leaning Democratic column in The New York Times presidential map today. Based on polling, along with interviews with officials in both campaigns, that determination suggests that Senator Barack Obama now has an advantage over Senator John McCain in a state that was once reliably Republican….
The latest shift means that, between states that The Times rates as solid and leaning to Mr. Obama, he now has 277 electoral votes; 270 electoral votes are needed to win the presidency…. [A]s Mr. Obama heads out for a weekend of visits to red states, the shift indicates just how difficult Mr. McCain’s task is becoming.

It’s going to get even more interesting when the birth certificate eruption occurs in a few days. Then we will find out if Obama is inelligible to even run. Oh the horror.
You didn’t think they were going to keep the lid on this did you? Now there is a suit in the sta of Washington challenging Obama’s candidacy and I understand that they will begin blossoming in many states. What an ignominious end!
