Hi All:
This September, my wife and I and my twin 18 month old sons attended the joint Ward 11 and 19 Democratic Committee forum for the candidates vying for election in the Massachusetts Democratic Primary.
Before the meeting, I received a call from Senator Wilkerson requesting a return call. I called her back, and the call was interrupted when Governor Patrick was purportedly on her other line to discuss doing calls on her behalf.
Before the forum, the co-chair of the Ward 19 Democratic Committee requested my support of her candidate for State Senate, Dianne Wilkerson.
After the forum, the Ward 19 Democratic Committee held its’ endorsement meeting and both Peggy and I are members of the committee. We both voted for Sonia Chang – Diaz, and the result of the vote was 12 to 11 for Wilkerson with an abstention. The Ward 19 Democratic Committee did not endorse a candidate for that race.
While leaving the meeting, I asked another member why they voted for Wilkerson. He told me that, “I think that she has done more good things than bad things.” In response, I stated that she has done a lot of bad things. It just proved to me that the Democratic Party was willing to put aside a lot to defend someone who has had more regard for her own interests than the people she purported to represent. The new allegations against Senator Wilkerson just reinforce my intuition regarding her.
Respectfully Submitted,
Sincerely,
Wayne J. Wilson, Jr.

I’m very appreciative of your vote on the Ward Cmte for Chang-Diaz whose candidacy my partner and I vigorously support, and did in ’06 too), and for your effort to point out to fellow political activists why there IS a line that Wilkerson had crossed (even before the alleged $23K in bribes) where her “bad things” very clearly outweighed her “good things”. fyi I have 2 young boys myself and often wonder how parents of small children can stay active in politics, both b/c of the time it takes and b/c so much of what MA Politics is all about (back room deals) is so alienating and dispiriting …
Thanks again,

p>p.s. I didn’t vote in your poll b/c you didn’t include my choice: making the use of automatic weapons illegal for all ages, period.
