Well, this will take a while to read, right? I sure cannot print it out.
<
p>At least it is online.

It would probably take me a week or more to read but luckily for us that super species of superior beings that we have serving in the US senate have used their bionio vision and comprehension skills and have not only finished reading this bill, but have found the time to spend all day praising it.

Already the excuse, “I didn’t know it would screw my constituents because I didn’t have time to read it!”, echoes down the hall. I don’t know whether to laugh or gag.

Various press reports are calling this the same bill “with sweeteners”. Or a more cynical person might say “with bribes”. To me it sounds like much of it – the tax breaks – are totally unrelated to the problem at hand. So I just don’t get it.
<
p>I don’t have the time to read the bill and I’m not sure how much more enlightened I’d be if I did.
amberpaw says
I am not supporting passing this, and don’t think it shows the kind of discipline and focus that a real restructuring would require – this seems more like obfuscation.

the “Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008” ends on page 113
farnkoff says
Are these guys kidding? Let me guess- a capital gains or corporate tax cut to “sell” the bailout to the rebellious wing of the GOP? That would truly be outrageous, a highjacking of astronomical proportions.
david says
the tax stuff is mostly on the reasonable side – AMT fix, various energy tax credits, etc. Nothing crazy, AFAIK.

the all-important Children’s Wooden Arrow Excise Tax Amendment, without which the economy would surely collapse within days!
amberpaw says
Does the wooden arrow excise tax provision make this monster bill “straight arrow”???
<
p>Sorry for the bad joke, but I would really like to know if anyone on here has read this whole thing. Not me. At least not yet. I was hoping not to have to read it. ):
gary says
I only read the tax sections.
<
p>I make it a point never to read Senate only, or House only Bills, as Conference often changes them substantially.

The citizens’ legal staff is reviewing the document now.
