With State Rep. Steve LeDuc having departed from the Legislature, his legislative aide of nearly half-a-decade, Danielle Gregoire, is the Democratic nominee to succeed him. She has been working for the constituents of the Fourth Middlesex district (Marlborough, Southborough, Berlin) for years and she deeply understands their concerns.
With the retirement at the end of this term of State Rep. Pat Walrath, Kate Hogan is the Democratic nominee for the Third Middlesex district (Hudson, Maynard, Stow, and Bolton). Kate is a businesswoman with the knowledge and experience to help her district and our Commonwealth create jobs and weather our current economic crisis.
Another Democratic retirement, State Rep. Geoff Hall, has created an open seat in the Second Middlesex district (Littleton, Westford, and Chelmsford), for which Jim Arciero is the Democratic nominee. Jim knows how to make state government work for the people of his district, as a former staffer for Rep. Hall and the state Treasurer and as the current Legislative Director for State Senator Steve Panagiotakos.
Since I’m running for State Senate, the 37th Middlesex district (Acton, Boxborough, Harvard, Shirley, Lunenburg, and Lancaster) seat is open, and a terrific Democrat, Jen Benson, is the nominee to succeed me. Jen is the Chair of the School Committee in Lunenburg and has spent years working with families in the region to improve our schools and strengthen our communities.
Democrats also have a chance to pick up a seat in the State House of Representatives with the retirement of Republican Rep. Paul Loscocco. The Democratic nominee for the Eighth Middlesex district (Westborough, Southborough, Medway, Holliston, and Hopkinton) is Carolyn Dykema. Carolyn works worked at Fidelity and has professional experience in financial services and environmental consulting, as well as a wealth of local public service experience. Her Republican opponent recently announced his support of Question 1 to repeal the state income tax and devastate our communities.
Another opportunity for a Democratic pick-up exists in the First Middlesex district (Ayer, Pepperell, Dunstable, Groton, and Townsend) where Democrat Virginia Wood is taking on Republican Rep. Bob Hargraves. Virginia, a restaurant owner and former Selectman in Groton, has focused on tough issues like affordable housing and energy conservation.
Additionally, first-term Democratic State Rep. Tom Conroy from the Thirteenth Middlesex district (Sudbury, Lincoln, and Wayland) is squaring off against Republican former State Rep. Susan Pope that he defeated in 2006.
With a great deal of ground still to cover and each of our campaigns needing more support, I hope we can count on the BMG community helping to put us over the top in next 15 days. Please get in touch with my campaign, any of the State Representative campaigns, or the Coordinated Campaign to make sure that we continue the progress that the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has made over the past few years. Thank you! – Jamie

Small correction: Carolyn did work at Fidelity in the past, I think, but she has been working for Norfolk RAM recently.
