Because of her massive screw-up that resulted in 6,400 names being missing from the voter rolls Tuesday morning, the Cambridge Chronicle has called for Marsha Weinerman to resign.
The comments of others show that this wasn’t a fluke. She simply does not care about doing her job properly. A commenter on Wicked Local asked her how many people are registered in Cambridge, and she didn’t even have an estimate, she just answered “I can’t let my head be crowded with such details“.

I was amazed to see this official on telivision dissmissively saying that errors happen. Well errors happen, but preventable errors like leaving out pages of registered voters disenfranchising responsible citizens who show up to vote is wrong!
<
p>People were upset about the error, but this official’s tact left a little to be desired. Having registered voter list is pretty basic.
<
p>Some folks went away, discouraged. Never to return. This is wrong!
<
p>I normally would give an official the enefit of the doubt, but seeing the interview assist me to understand why this election worker should select another profession.

My mom was actually one of the people caught up in this mixup on Tuesday. It seems like the print parameters for the voter database weren’t set properly, and only one name per address showed up on the lists distributed to the polling stations. (My dad was on the list, but not my mom.)
<
p>This was a stupid (but seemingly honest) mistake that shouldn’t have happened, but it was resolved relatively quickly from what I understand second-hand.
<
p>I’d certainly expect a more contrite response than what is cited above, but unless there’s an established pattern of incompetence/malfeasance on the part of Weinerman it seems a bit overboard to call for her head.
<
p>Anywho, I haven’t lived in the PRC for some time now, so I’m a bit out of the loop….

Teresa Neighbor was one of the best heads of the EC we had and now we are stuck with a Reeves backed hack like Weinerman.
<
p>She has made two real big screwups in my estimation.
<
p>Her first was getting rid of the charity boxes last year that made Cambridge look like a bunch of anti-troop, anti-military kooks, not to mention anti-boy scout, and she did it after ten or fifteen real hard core pinkos complained. Real anti-war patriots still support the troops, if anything the donations were acknowledging the liberal position that Bush isn’t helping our troops enough, how is it pro-war if they get some magazines ,clothes, and food from home? We became a national disgrace.
<
p>Now of course we have had a second national disgrace with these poorly run elections which were the first nationally reported election error and thus far one of the most egregious and worst that I read.
<
p>She should resign and be replaced by someone competent who has experience running and tabulating elections, especially in Cambridge with its complex PR system locally, I’d promote from within frankly and not just put another inexperienced hack there because Healy and Reeves wanted a lackey of theirs to get a promotion.
