I find it strange that Governor Patrick was MIA from my TV screen and newspapers this weekend as hundreds of thousands of MA residents struggled without electricity.
Perhaps he was working the phones, but I think it is reasonable to expect the Governor to make an appearance over the weekend to let people know that the state government is there to help. Today is day 4 of the crisis, so if he’s doing something today I think it looks like he’s playing catch up.
One can only imagine what kind of media bliz Mayor Menino would have been on had this happened in Boston — not to mention the show Mitt would have put on.

mmmm. Not so.
I saw him on TV in his offical yellow emergency jacket complete with state logo commenting on the large numbers of outages etc. Maybe you need to watch more TV đŸ˜‰

Jacket or no jacket, nobody can compete with Dukakis and his sweater live from Framingham.

I live just on the edge of where the ice damage occurred. I have been wondering why they hasn’t been a “call” for help from all the people from unaffected areas to show up with our chain saws and cut some trees. No requests for water, heaters, nothing…

p>My sister-in-law lives in Lunenberg and they got whacked badly and she couldn’t even get out of her driveway. They still don’t have power and don’t expect it till Tuesday or Wednesday. Her fireplace is keeping the pipes from freezing.

p>We don’t need the governor but it would be good to hear there is a plan and where the help is needed. I know there are often news stories of MA groups (firefighters, police, linemen…) traveling to help other states when events occur but I haven’t heard of anyone coming to MA to help. Did I miss it?

Tim Murray was on duty…heard him on radio warning about removal of infested trees downed in Worcester ice storm and saw him on TV on streets of Worcester, and with folks in a shelter in Gardiner, etc…he also called for increasing the number of National Guard helping in the most damaged areas…
<
p>I think they are working to make a bad situation better as soon as possible…my sister has no power or heat in Kingston , NH and they do not expect any until Friday…it’s not easy to get so many folks back on line after an ice storm of this severity…especially in the age of instant gratification.

I watched a bunch of NECN and little bit of the other news and also read the Globe and didn’t see anything with the Governor. Clearly he was hard at it.
