Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese points out in this Washington Post op-ed that Obama has done nothing to include the LGBT community in his administration (with the exception of one minor appointment.) The religious right gets a prime speaking slot at the inauguration; we make do with a marching band in the parade. So what if Warren isn’t in the Cabinet? Neither are any LGBT people. Rick Warren will be on the podium when “change” comes, while Rahm Emmanuel, who treated gay activists disrespectfully in the Clinton years, arranges cramped quarters for gays and lesbians in the back of the bus. I am more convinced than ever that Gay is the new Black (in the sense we are taken for granted and ignored by Democrats.)

is quite funny, while still making his points well. Good skill to have. He is one of the few people ever to have come out of a Stephen Colbert interview looking pretty good (or, at least, not like a total idiot). And this line from the WaPo column is funny, while also encapsulating exactly what probably happened:

One of the most thoughtful analyses of the Warren controversy I’ve come across is on the Time magazine website, of all places: http://swampland.blogs.time.co…

Speaking of saying it well, it’s always a pleasure to have a master of invective on your side, even if to some he is beyond the pale for his other positions. Hitchens’s account of Warren is almost as enjoyable as his t.v. appearances after Falwell’s death.

we will continue to be oppressed. Enough with the pretty pictures of loving gay couples, the award ceremonies, the Ebay auctions to have dinner with the cast of Will and Grace, the black tie affairs, and LGBT “leaders” muzzling up to those who keep us down just so they can benefit their resumes, agreeing to give money to Equality groups and the HRC and considering our work over…

p>Whe are the LGBT at large going to get it that we ARE in deep shit? I for one am NOT going to take it anymore!
