Reminiscent of Sen Ted Stephen’s 2005 effort (which ultimately failed thanks to thousands of phone calls) to derail the review process for Cape Wind, Congressman Jim Oberstar (D-MN) is attempting to block the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) on Cape Wind scheduled to be released this month. Oberstar, Chair of the Transportation and Infrastructurre Committee, with budgetary oversight of the Coast Guard, has sent a letter to the Coast Guard requesting that they delay release of an important report thereby delaying the FEIS. This project has been studied for seven years and Oberstars involvement is irresponsible and politically motivated.
