These people read our ballots?
Bank of America has installed snazzy new ATMs, made by Diebold, which supposedly scan checks for deposit. There are no more envelopes. I tried to deposit a check issued by another bank, that is, actually sent to me by the bank, not hand-written on another person’s account. The machine rejected it as unreadable; so did the second machine next to it.
A quick trip to the ATM turned into a major expedition to an actual office, parking, waiting in line, etc., to deal with a real live teller. The tellers said they had nothing to do with the ATMs and could not relay my complaint, which was not the first they had heard.
OK, this may be slightly more complicated than reading ballots, but the problem does not inspire confidence in Diebold. The bank’s attitude is a separate issue.
