I got an email the other day from Rob Willington — yes, that Rob Willington, the one who is the executive director of the Mass. GOP. But Rob had a great idea.
He suggested that MA bloggers of all political stripes should do a little fund drive for charities that try to make what is probably a difficult holiday season for many a little easier. Some of these charities (like Globe Santa and Toys for Tots) make sure that kids will have at least a couple of gifts under the tree; others (like Cradles to Crayons and the Greater Boston Food Bank) make sure that families have the basics to get through cold New England winters, like food and warm clothing.
Sounded good to me. So we’re going to try to drive some traffic to the site that Rob set up for this purpose — Blogs for Joy. There’s a little graphic in the upper right-hand sidebar that will take you there. Head on over, pick a charity or two, and make someone else’s holiday season a little brighter.
UPDATE: Here is a nice video that Rob put together. Excellent tag line: “Don’t just blog — do something!”
I’ll see what I can do for a donation, but I just this Monday delivered a dozen woolly socks and stocking caps to a local distributor of survival stuff for local homeless people. It kind of busted my bank…
Kudos to both of you
