Herald has the scoop:
DeLeo said Majority leader John Rogers (D-Norwood) has given up his bruising battle to replace DiMasi. He gave up, a source tells the Herald, earlier today.
“It becomes obvious at a certain point,” a source said about DeLeo’s win.
Rogers shook DeLeo’s hand on the House floor at the conclusion of DiMasi’s farewell speech in a clear signal that their race was over.
Rogers and DeLeo spoke this morning and DeLeo claimed at least three more supporters for a majority of 95, far above the 81 needed to win the seat.
UPDATE: Globe coverage is here with a video clip interviewing DeLeo. Watch to the end for him to express his support for slots at the racetracks…
