It’s hard to blame everything on one player, but I think Rondo has played particularly poorly over the past couple weeks. Given that the offense runs through him (probably even more than a typical point guard), his poor play has affected the entire offense.
<
p>He’s missing open guys and even his passing accuracy lately has even been questionable. Though he’s not a primarily a scorer, he also hasn’t been putting up many points as he did earlier in the season.

The Celtics are almost as good as last year.
<
p>1. But despite that their backup players are lovable, they are much MUCH weaker than the backups on other top teams.
p>But that’s simply because he started out so hot — he was actually better than Pierce, Garnett, and Allen in their first 33 games — that other teams pay more attention. And that means daring him to shoot from outside. Which he cannot.
<
p>Other teams watched the Lakers game. Fisher covered Ray Allen, and Kobe “covered” Rondo. Ie, let him stand wide open far from basket, but made sure he didn’t get any layups.
<
p>3. Going forward:
<
p>a. We’ll battle with Cleveland for the top spot
<
p>b. We’ll acquire a big man for the playoff run so that we can keep Big Baby and Scal on the bench
<
p>c. We’ll see a bit more Gabe Pruitt, see what he can do
<
p>d. We’ll see if anyone is out there who might take Tony Allen’s minutes

p>I love Big Baby the undersized overachiever, but he’s arguably the worst backup big in the NBA, no matter what Heinsohn says.
<
