Statement of Environment Massachusetts’ Winston Vaughan on Congressional Budget Resolutions
President Obama’s proposed budget takes important first steps in unleashing clean energy to transform our economy. His proposal protects our environment by investing in clean energy, cleaning up our waterways and toxic waste sites, and cutting subsidies to Big Oil.
This week, the House and Senate budget committees developed resolutions that pave the way for legislation to cap carbon pollution and drive the creation of a clean energy economy. The resolutions also allow for future legislation to include the President’s proposals on Superfund, clean water infrastructure and cutting subsidies for Big Oil.
“Environment Massachusetts urges Congress to approve these resolutions to begin to make President Obama’s vision for a new energy economy a reality.”
