This is major: MassEquality’s executive director Marc Solomon and field director Amy Mello are moving house to California. They will be working for Equality California (EQCA), MassEquality’s golden state counterpart. Their mission: restore marriage equality to California.
Massachusetts will undoubtedly pine the loss of these two exceptional leaders. But as the saying goes, “they are needed elsewhere”. EQCA has lost the confidence of too many of its volunteers and donors. Bringing in the proven leadership of Solomon and Mellow is what is needed to restore confidence and get a kick-ass field campaign in motion to restore equality to California.

we can be sure Marc won’t make the same mistakes that the campaign in Cali did this past fall. This is very, very good news.

enough people will give the new crew a chance. A lot of people seem to have the same reaction to EQCA as they do to HRC, as in “until Kors/Solmonese steps down, no dice”. Marc is in the unenviable position of having to win confidence from people who see him as a talented new employee of an entrenched, failed old leader. IMO he will need to demonstrate his smarts and, perhaps most importantly, his independence pretty quickly.

as far as I’m concerned, Kors should step down and hand the keys over to Solomon.
