Shall we assume that it’s because so many people are getting the short end of the economic stick, or are we going to argue that the nanny state is coddling too many lazy slackers?
Were those ‘slackers’ in 1930 in those soup lines?
kirthsays
I don’t think the people in Depression soup lines were celebrating having gotten something for nothing. I don’t think it about today’s food stamp recipients, either. I just assumed some of our other-minded posters would show up with that view, and wanted to welcome them.
<
p>Speaking of ‘nothing,’ do you really need all that white space in your sig? It adds a whole bunch of scrolling in threads where you comment a lot.
johndsays
I just checked how much food stamps I’d get if I lost my job… $798/month… sweet. I don’t think I spend that now ($26/day).
<
p>Also didn’t realize this fact…
<
p>
Generally, your household cannot have more than $2,000 in resources. But, if your household includes a person age 60 or older or who is disabled, the limit is $3,000. Resources include cash, bank accounts and other property.
Why don’t you celebrate by finding a murder victim in Dorchester to tap dance over?
johndsays
but the Teacher’s credit union was robbed of $200K and a BOA was hit as well.
<
p>But the good news…
<
p>
Boston Police report two men didn’t get to enjoy the $200,000 they allegedly got by telling tellers at a Dorchester credit union they had a bomb.
Kevin Clement, 23, and Derrick Rogers, 25, were arrested today for yesterday morning’s holdup at the Tremont Credit Union on Mt. Vernon St.
<
p>Two “crazy kids” making “stupid mistakes”. I wonder if they made any “stupid mistakes” when they were younger beating up people (maybe a little stab here, beat there…) and then they will have to commit crimes to “feed their kids” and off to prison they go for a long time thereby ruining the chance of two “productive members of society”. All they need is a “smidge” of help… I think that’s how Rye sees it.
kbuschsays
If you think that’s how Ryan sees it, you are making a career out of being obtuse.
<
p>What is it with stereotypical conservatives*? Are they incapable of understanding the difference between “some” and “every”?
<
p>JohnD, could you refrain this sort of crap? Or is that too much to ask?
* There are many conservative commentators on this site who are not stereotypical.

There you go again JohnD wrong info and spreading false information. Must be that sheepskin getting into your eyes. You know your going to get a reputation for spinning tales like the Grim Bros.
p>if you get max unemployment I believe this year it is 664 a week + 25 stimulus +50 for Dependents that about $725 a week and $2900 a month you can only have one car so sell the rest off JohnD and no Boat JohnD nothing over $2000 so the vacation property must be sold off first and you must spend that before you can apply. but lets move forward
<
p>$2900 well to meet the Gross you would need a minimum of 6 in your household, you, a spouse (poor woman) and 4 kids(typical)
Now I am not going to guess your net issues but basically that may or may not disqualify you and we don’t want to do that so we will skip that test
<
p>Next lets look at your benefits JohnD
<
p>
Household Benefit
1 $ 176
2 $ 323
3 $ 463
4 $ 588
5 $ 698
6 $ 838
7 $ 926
8 $ 1,058
So JohnD you would get WOW a $838 of Benefits Great JohnD order us Steak were eating at your house
<
p>Whoops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! forgot we have to deduct
<
p>Benefit Computation Example
<
p> Multiply net income by 30%… (Round up)
<
p> Subtract 30% of net income from the maximum
allotment for the household size…
$1,163 net monthly income
x .3 = $348.90 (round up to $349)
<
p> $588 maximum allotment for 4 – $349 (30% of
net income) = $239, SNAP Allotment
for a full month
<
p>So lets see JohnD we said $2900 x.3 =that’s $870.00
<
p>ok your benefit level for your wife and 4 Kids was $838-$870
<
p>OH JohnD I am sorry you owe $32 back to the system how would you like to pay that credit card or check.
You sir, are a real disgrace when you put false info to belittle a serious issue like hunger and you should be ashamed. One can only hope their is justice in life and you receive yours
<
p>Many families face serious challenges in surviving in this economy food stamps provide simple basic meals for thousands of children after many families are done computing their benefits it usually amounts to less then $4 a Day certainly no one can suggest that any one is over eating on Food Stamps and JohnD please don’t post your lies unless you post the facts to back them up. Bagged
<
p>Just the rea Facts!!!

Have you been drinking too much of that polluted Woburn water? Now you may have to cut m some slack becasue I don’t work for the state (Heaven forbid) and I have never received any unemployment, welfare, food stamps… or any other public assistance (I just pay for these things).
<
p>I went to this SNAP website (I love how the Feds changed the name from Food Stamps to SNAP – Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program… made me feel better not getting “food stamps”). Then I entered I was from MA and it redirected me to a SNAP calculator for MA residents (but that site still says Food stamps so I was frowning while typing).
p>I plugged in my 5 kids names/ages and myself and wife’s and then it asked a bunch of questions and I put in my mortgage payment blah blah blah and it spit out this message…
<
p>
Good news! Based on the information that you have provided us, you appear to qualify for $1,052.00 in food stamp benefits per month. Although this may seem low, we urge you
to apply because you will automatically be eligible for other substantial
discounts on gas, electric and telephone bills. For further information click on the resources below:
<
p>So if you are on the state payroll then maybe you/someone should fix the website since THAT is where my info came from be it true or false.
<
p>You said…
<
p>”You sir, are a real disgrace when you put false info to belittle a serious issue like hunger and you should be ashamed. One can only hope their is justice in life and you receive yours”
<
p>I put no false info in my comment so you “sir” should be ashamed at calling me a liar. I understand hunger and spend a fair amount of time/money working with Church’s and the local food pantry for hungry people… so stick that in your pipe and smoke it. I have also posted many times on this site where people can get low cost affordable meals for themslevs and their kids (but not in WUburn). If there is justice in this world then I am receiving it now.. as a reward.
