Our host was Melissa Hurley, and we had a series of guests in for three segments:
The first segment featured State Rep Jay Kaufman and Pat Johnson, the President of the College Democrats of Massachusetts. The panel discussed the importance of state Democratic Party conventions and what people can do, at all ages, to be involved in the formation of the MDP’s platform. The second segment covered what an “issues convention” is, why it is convened, and how the platform is created. The guests were David Kravitz, founding editor of BlueMassGroup.com and member of Platform Committee, and Stacey Monahan, the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Democratic Party. The final segment celebrated the Democratic Party as the party of inclusion – our guest, Diversity Intern Edward Offutt, described his experiences campaigning for Deval Patrick and Barack Obama.
The shoot went great – luckily, our producer remembered to bring a still camera, so we got a few shots of the activity. We all got to the studio about 15 mintues early, so we were able to adjust the lights and otherwise get ourselves ready to go. The guests relaxed on stage as we did camera and sound checks in the booth – I’m the big guy in the booth in that last shot…

For our next episode, I’ll be backstage at the convention in June, following an interviewer as he gets the inside scoop from the dignitaries doing the speaking. David Plouffe is our guest of honor, so you can bet I’m seriously looking forward to this! I’m also a delegate to the convention, so I get to find out how to cast votes by proxy, since I won’t be able to sit with my delegation while I’m filming.
Watch for Blue TV on your local access station – if you don’t see it, contact me for info on how to get it on the air in your town! If you’ve got some free time and you’d like to help produce Blue TV, send me an email, my email address is in my profile.

Sheesh – is BlueMassGroup a porn site (about massive group activity) due the word Blue? đŸ˜‰
<
p>We’re planning to put it online – we’re going to establish a YouTube account for the party and upload each segment as a separate clip. But as of now, I don’t have the finished product in hand, so that stuff is still to come…

The URL for “BlueTV.com” is, unfortunately, already taken [WARNING! NOT WORK SAFE!], which suggests that Bob might have a point.

I doubt the folks who decdided on the name were aware of that!

Is currently being held by a domain squatter… might be worth an inquiry.
johnt001 says
I doubt we’ll buy the domain, but it’ll be nice to know the price.
johnt001 says
I’ll mention it to John Walsh next time I see him, but I doubt we’ll be buying that domain anytime soon – I can think of many, many other things the party could spend $5,000.00 on…

on our local access tv?

from town to town. In some towns, one citizen can request a show and they’ll air it, while in others they like to see a group of people making the request. You should call your local cable office, they’ll be the best folks to explain the process in your community.

my town doesn’t even have public access tv!
<
p>a few people have tried to change that, but because my town doesn’t have it, no one really understands why others want it… people don’t know what they’re missing. So, as a result, the selectmen have demeaned the guy pushing the fight and really showed their ignorance.

An intrepid blogger like yourself might be able to make some hay out of an issue like that…

(party time, excellent)

Wrote a LTTE a while back. Now that the state’s pushing it, I’m going to push it to the town committee. However, for some particular reason I just don’t understand, the selectman have been extremely reticent with it when it comes to comcast negotiations. It baffles me.

Those of a certain age might remember a certain pair of Swedish films, one of which permanently altered the connotations of “blue”.

p>Meanwhile, are the powers-that-be simultaneously posting these shows on youtube? Are you the right people to contact regarding embedded-video programs and clips for various public and private sites?
<
p>I love seeing this happen, and hope I can in some small way help move it (and us) along.

We’re planning to do a YouTube channel for the show. I have yet to see the finished product – hopefully it will be done soon and I’ll get that set up. You should be able to embed anything we put on that channel, correct? I’ll announce the channel here, or you can email me, my address is in my profile.
