The Patrick administration has announced a series of 36 community meetings to discuss the budget situation, taxes, and all the rest of it. According to a press release, the Governor will personally host four of the meetings (Braintree on May 11th, Boston on May 14th, Franklin on May 17th and Marblehead on May 21st); Lieutenant Governor Murray will host another four (Cambridge on May 12th, Norwood on May 18th, Saugus on May 19th and Hyannis on May 21st); and the others will be hosted by “senior administration officials” to be named later.
Meeting locations are:
Boston (2 meetings) Marlboro Worcester
Cambridge Pittsfield Fitchburg
Franklin Williamstown Milford
Hyannis Monterey Scituate
Norwood Amherst/Northampton Bridgewater
Saugus Chesterfield Wareham
Andover Westfield Attleboro
Pepperell Springfield Taunton
Ipswich Brimfield Dartmouth
Newton Deerfield Martha’s Vineyard
Lexington Chelsea Orange
Marblehead Braintree
There’s no specific information about venues yet, but I assume that will be posted closer to the actual events. As noted above, the first one, on May 11 in Braintree, will be hosted by the Governor.
This is a good idea, and I’d encourage folks to attend if you can. We will try to stay on top of locations, personnel, etc., and update the information as it becomes available.

This kind of thing is an occupational hazzard for lawyers. Only a lawyer could love this kind of silly Latinism. Read Stephen Pinker on how the lawyer’s Latinate fetish about split infinitives caused the Chief Justice’s oath of office malfunction at the Inauguration.

I once read a purposely wrong statement, and spellcheck found only two errors out of 15.

I almost got it the other night but rented “Kingdom of God” instead. Surprise, surprise, it was rife with inaccuracy.

Given today’s dire fiscal picture, I assume free community college tuition has been shelved.

Is only 17% of the cost of attending college full-time. They’re just paying lip service with the meetings.
