Not sure what’s up with this, but according to the Senate budget website, Senator Scott Brown has withdrawn his proposed amendment (which was number 452) to eliminate the donated car program that we’ve been yakking about. Senator Baddour’s amendment remains on the table, but hasn’t yet been acted on, as far as I know.
As noted previously, the two amendments were not the same. Senator Brown’s eliminated the program and reduced DTA’s funding accordingly. Senator Baddour’s eliminates the program, but does not reduce the line item.

Although I disagreed with it, Brown’s amendment made more sense – if you disapproved, then cancel the program entirely. Baddour’s just takes away the benefit and tosses the funding into the ether.

p>Senator Baddour – please think of your North Andover constituents…have you ever sat with a mother on AFDC, and had her tell you that she can’t keep a job because she can’t ‘get a friend’ to take her to daycare, AND work, AND food shopping, AND home again every day?
