On behalf of our more than five thousand supporters statewide, and (more importantly) my rescued greyhound Zoe I want to thank everyone who called their State Senator to urge her/him to uphold the will of the voters on Question 3.
Thanks to the avalanche of phone calls and e-mails lawmakers received, the Senate today voted overwhelmingly to preserve the Greyhound Protection Act on a 29-8 vote.
We are also especially grateful for the support of Senate President Therese Murray, who stated her opposition to Amendment 155 on the night before the vote.
We fully expect dog racing supporters to make other attempts to undermine the will of the voters, and when they do we will be ready to fight again for the greyhounds. With your help, we will ensure that on January 1 the cruelty of dog racing ends in our state for good.
