It’s June 23rd–do you know where your ethics and lobbying reform is? I was honored to participate in the efficient, thoughtful and lightning fast task force Governor Patrick assembled in November 2008. I was more than happy to see debate follow in the legislature and to see new ideas added to the mix as both houses weighed in. But I really think it is time to hear from the members of the legislature who are working on the conference committee, so at least we – the public – know where things stand and when we can expect the result we deserve. This issue was fast-tracked by the Governor 7 months ago and where are we now? For all I know tomorrow is the day we’ll hear. But again, I think the conference committee should let the public know where things stand. This has always been an issue of the public trust–and mishandling it risks doing double damage because of the already high level of skepticism that is out there. Let’s share with the public where things are, and let’s get a good result the Governor can sign as swiftly as possible.
I realize that people are busy, the budget, the other major reform proposals, helping constituents and commmunities through the financial crisis and the normal workload is quite daunting. But it feels to me like it’s time. Do you know where your ethics reform is? Not exactly, but I would really like to.
With appreciation for the hard work of the members of the legislature who are involved,
Andy Tarsy

Please share widely!
about the Legislature and ethics reform is like water through sand: it disappears without leaving a trace.
I would be interested to see the list of recommendations your “lightening fast task force” made to the legislature…I must have missed it if it was posted or linked here before…would you please repost or re-link to this thread? Thanks.
