What I used to do is no longer done here in these United States.
I was good at it. I was the ultimate team player and did it in one of these trendy “diverse” enviornments. Hell, we got along so well we figured out diversity was just a company tool to screw over employees, Christ, they had to break us up! God, I feel like Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino.
HR corporate departments rank somewhere below pedophile in my book. It is no longer about matching candidates to jobs but more about finding the ultimate S&M submissive to corporate masters. Really how can an organization be creative, productive and happy if all the bots are running around saying thank you sir may I have another?
I’m getting older and want a mindless easy job for now. I thought cable guy, Comcast. Drive around, install cable, meet and talk to new people, not a problem right. NOT. Research engineer with 20 years can’t get a job installing cable boxes?
I thought backwards in time. How my boss, a real comrade(yes I mean that in the Soviet sense) shared the machinations typical of American HR thinking with me. It went back two years ago when the company was trying to dump their tuition reimpursement policy. Both the company and the school changed policies thrice thus dumping me into a collection agency situation. Once that happened the school would not release the paperwork HR wanted to process the grades. Our best and most popular HR twenty something seized upon this opportunity to label me as “un-cooperative”,putting it nicely, even though I explained the entire situation.
You know I do “get it” that HR in all of it’s Satanically evil incarnations is the mechanism to advance corporate fascism. Hell, been through wave after wave of corporate “performance” “enhancement” programs, shit I should be the Zen master of it after 20 years right? That is why I am “old” “cranky”,”burnt out” and or don’t have up to date computer skills.
The economy is the excuse. Labor unions taking back vacation time. Bailor shift nursing is disappearing. Nursing? What has changed in regards to the economics in the nursing field, nothing. Yet that power of perception demands corporate “take away” a little this, a little that.
Plus when you are down and out these toads will sell you an updated resumee containing all of the updated “visually correct” and the secret “Applicant Tracking System” compliant, see that word again compliant, S&M pricks, for four hundred bucks.
So allow me to ask. How has your job historized you.
