In order to promote car-pooling to the State Convention, I am creating a thread with the intention that it can be used as a “ride board.” With the cost of gas, it makes sense to share rides. Now I don’t have much experience in this area, so others please pitch in if there is a better way to do this. I’m guessing that within our own wards and towns, we are already ride sharing, but for people on non-standard schedules and from more distant parts of the state, this may be helpful.
UPDATE: I just received a phone call about a volunteer involved with one of the workshops who needs a ride from the Boston area on Saturday. This person uses a wheelchair, but does not need a wheelchair accessible vehicle. But there does need to be room to store the wheelchair. If anyone can pick someone up in Charlestown so that people arrive mid-morning and leave after the workshops that would be much appreciated. Call Joe at 978-886-9066.
I’ll kick it off.
WANTED: RIDE FROM UXBRIDGE TO SPRINGFIELD ON SATURDAY
A friend of mine contacted me to see if I knew anyone. Please contact me off-line at KateDonaghue@aol.com if you can help.
I may or may not be going on Friday, but the bus would be leaving M’boro early…I’m talking 5am. So SE Mass folk who are going to take it to the streets are welcome on the Sabutai Red-Eye.
Managing my physical challenges [these include rheumatoid and osteo arthritis and other auto-immune and physical limitations] means going up the day before and having a place to rest. So I have the room to take four others on Friday – can pick up at Alewife station.
I’m staying after the convention for the workshops – I have to drop my daughter and her friend at Bellingham HS at 7:00 am so they can take the SAT, and then I’m of to Springfield! My email address is in my profile if you want to ride with me in my gas-sipping Honda Civic Hybrid…
I’m heading out most likely early Friday afternoon and will be heading home after the last party on Saturday.
<
p>Leaving from the Pike on Exit 13 (Natick/Framingham). Returning to Exit 11 (Millbury). Probably works better for someone going earlier than their group or staying later than their group. Get your spouse to drop you off at Exit 13. Then go home with your crew. Or when the people who have a life want to take off before the parties, hitch a ride back with me.
My first event is a 4:30 PM meeting in Springfield on Friday – but I can pick people up at Alewife at 2:00 PM – still have room! Please contact me directly at AmberPawdotaol.com
I’m going Saturday morning, so up and at ’em early.
<
p>Also, I’m doing a workshop for the Netroots until 4:30 (everyone should come!), so I’ll be staying the duration.
And my Hybrid Honda Civic will cut the gasoline use in half, as well! Good deed for the week accomplished by this diary – thanks Kate!
I can offer a ride one-way on Saturday morning, from the area between Marlborough and Worcester, planning to arrive around 9am. You’ll need a ride back, though (if you’re staying ’til the bitter end, see Kate’s offer). Please e-mail me (see my profile) if you are interested.

p>See you there!
