The Beverly Democratic City Committee will be honoring John Lozada by presenting him with an Outstanding Service Award at their annual cookout on 08-22-09. The event will be held from 2-4PM at the home of Lynne and Gary Barrett at 8 Shore Avenue in Beverly’s Ryal Side neighborhood. Congressman John Tierney, Massachusetts State Party Chairman John Walsh and Beverly State Representative Mary Grant will be on hand to join Democrats from across the North Shore in honoring John Lozada.
John served as the coordinated campaign office manager for the Beverly in 2008. He has also been an active and enthusiastic member and officer of the Beverly Democratic City Committee. He presently serves as Recording Secretary.
His story has very strong parallels to that of our Governor and President.
John was raised in New York City in public housing with his sister by his mother, as single parent. As a youth, he participated in many programs through the Boys and Girls Harbor in NY. This involvement lead to his being a recipient of a scholarship to the Northfield Mount Hermon School in Mount Hermon, MA. He was then awarded a scholarship to Amherst College, and later received his law degree from UC Hastings College of Law in San Francisco.
John is the past president of the Massachusetts Hispanic Bar Association and was previously employed as a civil rights attorney for the Federal Department of Education.
John is married to Beth Hogan (sister of Rep. Kate Hogan D-Stow) and is the proud father of two children and resides in North Beverly.
Past recipients of this award include Beverly City Councilor Wes Slate, Democratic State Committee Member Lynne Barrett, and the late Peg Sullivan.

That will be interesting. The Beverly Democratic City Committee welcomes all donations. He makes it sound like a rare sighting. I wonder if they considered making an appointment and going into his congressional office.
Fortunately we had a great turnout of Democrats, and no teabaggers.
