Michael Flaherty is hosting a bunch o’ bloggers this afternoon for a live sit-down from 1 to 2:30 pm. I’m planning to live-blog the event, and will be happy to ask him questions that you all send my way. So stop by between 1 and 2:30, and see what’s happening.
Please share widely!

Open meeting law not applicable?

People go off the record with media all the time. If it’s okay with Andrea Estes, I don’t see why it shouldn’t be okay with David Kravitz đŸ˜‰

standards for bloggers to use when they are posting a live blog. I am assuming when Mr Flaherty offered an opinion or made some statement he did not wish to be shared with the readers of the live blog he asked for permission and it was granted and that;s the standard we can expect from now on.

he asked for permission to go off the record and each and everyone in the group said it was okay.

p>I guess with the still-fairly-new medium of blogs, this is sort of a first for BMG, given the few liveblogs we’ve done. Most liveblogs are usually of events, debates, forums and the like. Today’s meeting was sort of in between a formal sit down interview with a bunch of reporters/media folk and a full-blown presser. We’re in new territory đŸ˜‰

Obviously, the open meeting law has no application to what we were doing this afternoon.

at ryan’s take for tomorrow morning. Had a crazy busy day today and just sat down for the first time…

p>I can say this, though: Flaherty is not afraid to say what he thinks. There aren’t a whole ton of politicians who will do that.

for meeting with me yesterday. It was a great way to formally introduce myself to you and your readers. I’m just running into a City Council meeting but please feel free to contact me with anymore questions.
