WBCN had a bit called the “drunken Red Sox recap” where someone on the Toucher & Rich show would get a stumbling fan to recap the game.  The difference is that those guys were funny…I listened to them all the time during drive time.  Problem is, these second-rate jock jockeys can’t make it funny.  Two months from now, I think we’ll all realize what a step down it was from BCN to blather.

    p>About redistricting, let’s get rid of Stephen Lynch, a pox on all of New England, not just the Bay State.  We can find a Congressman who’s strong on labor issues without also living in the 19th century on social questions.

    • Sorry if you were being snarky and  I missed it, but the guys Ernie are referring to ARE Toucher & Rich. Im not sure where he got Crook and Chase. Maybe his hearing aid needs a new battery.

    • His argument that words like fag, faggy, homo, and Mary aren’t offensive if HE says so was one of of the stupidest I’ve seen. It deserved to be deleted.

      • my mom hated that Mapplethorpe art show. It was offensive to her and millions of others.  Did it warrant censorship?  No.

        • We get to decide the standards. We are not doing it ad-hoc; we have rules. The old diary broke the rules. This is about our freedom of speech — I don’t want to have to host things on my site that I think are despicable. And I think, on the whole, that we give folks a pretty long leash.

            • I’d love to see you try your theory about offensiveness on actual live people.  It’s easy to be a loud mouth taunt people on the internet, much harder when you have to deal with the consequences.

              • I tried and open up dialogue.  My comments about the gay games and gay radio are meant for serious discussion. yet I had not one serious comment other then the usual personal attacks on me.

Won’t it be great when you make all the bad words disappear.  No more moonbats, but of course there will be plenty of right wing wingnuts.  It is all right to post pictures showing bigots with signs that say that “God Hates F…s” but you strike whole diaries if they contain the word?  That is just plain stupid and dangerous.  How about just striking the offensive word and leave the ideas up there.  Oh, that is right, there are good ideas and bad ideas and you only strike the bad ones.  Thank God we have gate keepers like you.  

            • Showing the pictures points out how disgraceful others are.  The editors don’t want people directly using this site to use such words.  The difference is between quoting someone contemptuously and using the term yourself approvingly.

            • The editors have announced no opposition to specific words.

    p>But the new sports talkers need to be supported, if for no other reason than they have Michael Felger, the only non-homer sportswriter to work in Boston in my lifetime. That goes for both the guys who grew up here and the guys who learned to kiss up to power here.
