No shoving. Go to RMG and watch the videotape of the actual speech, not what was reported.
<
p>I was there, and heard the voice. Even at the time, I thought – he’s APOLOGIZING! To us! For letting us down!
<
p>I happen to be an ordaing lay speaker, and his remarks about his wife’s call and new chruch brought tears to my eyes. His support for her was tremendous.
<
p>Had this opportunity come before the end of June, the story would have been different, I think, but he did not want to fail to support her after she supported him.
<
p>The speech was nuanced and intelligent, so of course the media turned it into a headline and failed to report. Their analysis of this was just as accurate as the story about Mihos.

Towards the end of his speech viewable here on RMG, Card said the Republican Party is optimistic because of its values: Fiscal Discipline, Prudence and Respect. Oh. Like the Fiscal Discipline with which Card’s Bush Administration dug the United States into our biggest-ever deficit and a giant recession? And the, ah, Prudence with which Card’s Bush Administration launched a war of choice based on fraudulent claims against Iraq? Lots to Respect there, alright.

Peter,
<
p>What you say may be true. But, the news media doesn’t do nuance and never will.
<
p>And, as a former White House Chief of Staff, Andrew Card should already know how the news media works.
<
p>Every story, even Card’s, is relegated to a headline. And, Card should have known better and scripted his announcement to garner the headline he desired.

Guess who’s left holding the Republican designated loser bag?
<
p>Tag you’re it, State Senator Brown.
<
p>It’ll be fun watching Brown spin why he dropped out for Card only to re-enter after Card took a pass. Go ahead and help yourself to a big, thick steamy bowl of pretzel logic, State Senator Brown!
<
p>But, don’t get too worried. I’m sure no matter how tortured and embarrassing your logic is, Jay Severin and Howie Carr will proclaim it genius, pure genius.
<
p>Meanwhile, go ahead and privately tell your family to hold off on looking for places to stay in the DC area. They won’t be needing them any time soon.

Card more or less shoved Brown out of the way so her could…not run?
<
p>Perhaps Mihos will get back into the race…then drop out…then get back in.
