From the Khazei Campaign Website:
Former N.A.T.O. Supreme Allied Commander and Four-Star General Wesley Clark Endorses Alan
General Wesley Clark released the following statement in an email to the Khazei campaign:
“I am proud today to announce my enthusiastic and strong support for Alan Khazei for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts. At this critical time, we need more patriots and public servants like Alan Khazei representing the people’s interests in Washington.
I’ve known Alan since 2003 when I visited City Year, the national urban Peace Corps Alan founded in Boston. What I discovered was a deeply patriotic individual of true personal integrity. Alan Khazei loves our country and has devoted his entire adult life to serving and empowering people to better our communities and bring much needed change. And in City Year, I witnessed the closest thing I have seen to the military in civilian service. I was so inspired by Alan Khazei and his program that I signed on to work with Alan and President Clinton to bring City Year to Little Rock, Arkansas.
When it comes to foreign affairs, Alan Khazei is one candidate who won’t need on the job training. Alan has met with leaders in over thirty countries, has a curious mind, a multi-cultural perspective, is a student of history and understands the complexities of national security in the 21st Century. He has taken the time to study the situation in Afghanistan. Rather than make the easy appeal of simply bringing our troops home, Alan has done the hard work of detailing how to do so while insuring Afghanistan does not once again become a haven for terrorists. And, at the same time, Alan presents a comprehensive strategy for defeating the terrorists globally. Alan, more than anyone else running for Senate in Massachusetts, presented a detailed approach and compelling, new ideas for accomplishing our goals.

you mean that it been on Boston.com all day and just cycled out of the front page and it’s been mentioned multiple times already on BMG, then yes, hot off the presses.
<
p>Nice endorsement. I’m a big fan of Wes Clark.
<
p>Not sure about your second picture maybe you can explain that further.
david says
Surely you jest … ?
sabutai says
Many of us would have just presumed that in his desperation to attack anyone other than Khazei, TP was recycling a Bush family attack on Governor Dukakis. Not that Dukakis is running, but it’s easier to invoke a 20-year-old photo op gone bad than honestly go after Capuano (or Coakley) on the issues.
<
p>Shame, too…I like Clark and this says something good about Khazei.

Too much bitterness weakens your credibility… and then The Globe will publish something about your unhealthy “class anger” đŸ˜‰
johnk says
why attack Duke? How does that help.
johnd says
So funny!

Children need pictures. Words and facts are BORING.
throbbingpatriot says
About 5 hours ago, in fact.
<
p>But alas, the BMG Editorial Board has thus far declined to promote this significant endorsement as they did endorsements of Capuano by Dukakis’ or blogger Lynne from Lowell…
<
p>So a solo post seemed in order.
<
p>This is an especially significant endorsement in advance of President Obama’s address tomorrow night.
<
p>FYI – the 2nd pic is Mike Dukakis from a 1988 presidential campaign photo op.
david says
Do you really think we’re going to promote a post taking a cheap shot at Mike Dukakis?
throbbingpatriot says
And this is politics, son…
<
p>I admire, respect, voted for, volunteered for and have personally worked with Gov. Dukakis. Any Dem primary candidate would welcome his endorsement in a heartbeat.
<
p>But you know as well as anyone (or you should) that politics is very much a battle of and for perception. And like it or not, the good Duke got himself painted universally as weak on defense. Today he has a healthy perspective on it that I’d recommend you emulate.
<
p>Clarke’s endorsement is significant. I couldn’t care less if you “promote” my post. But as johnk noted, the endorsement was out this morning, and mentioned numerous times. Is BMG on the real-time pulse of this race or not? I hope so and want it to be for the sake of our shared progressive mission.
<
p>Now lighten-up a bit and do ur own post on the Clark endorsement!
lightiris says
detracts from what should be a wholly positive message from Clark about Khazei. As soon as I saw the Dukakis pic I decided to skip your content entirely. You might think about taking that out of your post; it’s an unnecessary and petty distraction.
jimc says
Good way to snatch a small defeat from the jaws of a small victory.
christopher says
Both Clark and Dukakis are respected leaders, albeit with different backgrounds. I don’t think there’s anything really to either compare or contrast here, and obviously both gentlemen are entitled to their opinions.

I thought Alan hated them?
<
p>See his lobbying reports here:

<
p>Looks like one to me. Alan?
throbbingpatriot says
You mean wasn’t and doesn’t take their money, yes?
<
p>Nice try, though…
02136mom says
So he was, but no longer is?
<
p>And are you saying that he would take their endorsement, but not their money? That doesn’t seem like much of a distinction.
kaj314 says
Lobbyist work on favors and access. What is this worth in terms of access to a potential (respectable third place finish for Khazei IMO) US Senator?
kaj314 says
Picture of Duke is fair game, but steps on the positive message of a good endorsement for sure. Your choice, but stepping on your own positive message with a negative doesn’t seem productive.
