MASSACHUSETTS NATIVE AND RECENTLY RE-ELECTED NEW YORK CITY MAYOR MICHAEL BLOOMBERG OFFICIALLY ENDORSES ALAN KHAZEI
BOSTON – Massachusetts native and re-elected Independent New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg officially endorsed Alan Khazei for United States Senate on Thursday. The endorsement is a testament to the significant work Alan Khazei has accomplished as a social entrepreneur and leader of the service movement. Alan Khazei is pleased to have the support of such a dedicated and accomplished public servant.
Mayor Bloomberg will host a fundraiser next week at his private home in New York to show his support for Alan Khazei’s candidacy for the U.S. Senate. “Alan is someone I have worked closely with, he is an entrepreneur and an educational reformer. When we decided in New York to heed President Obama’s call to volunteerism and create NYC Service, Alan was one of the first people whose advice I sought out. Massachusetts has big shoes to fill and the country needs someone with a track record and bold specific ideas to move the country forward, and Alan is that guy.”
Michael Bloomberg is a native of Medford, Massachusetts and a dedicated public servant. A longtime supporter of City Year, he was recently elected to his third term as Mayor of New York City. “Mayor Bloomberg shares my passion for service and a desire for job creation and education reform using an innovative and entrepreneurial approach to address our problems. I am extremely pleased to have support from such a talented and innovative leader like Mayor Michael Bloomberg.”
Khazei and Bloomberg have worked together on various service initiatives, helping to forge partnerships between the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Khazei helped bring together a broad coalition to pass the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act.

Hey, didn’t Bloomberg endorse Joe Lieberman in 2006?
He did.
That’s a swell guy!

When he’s issuing an endorsement, he’s “a native of Medford, Massachusetts” but when he’s trying to peddle his book, Medford was “quiet and dull” and a place you want to escape because to stay there would be “fatal.”
<
p>An endorsement by the Medford-bashing, quasi-republican, term-limit busting billionaire Mayor of Yankee City… now that’s what I call fatal.

…at least it wasn’t Speaker Nancy Pelosi who endorsed him — that would be, Coakley’s supporters assure me, disastrous.

Bloomberg isn’t a Massachusetts resident.
Bloomberg isn’t a Democrat.

that he successfully persuaded the NYC City Council to change the New York City charter to enable him to run for a third mayoral term, even though NYC voters expressed their electoral preference that all NYC mayors be limited to two terms.
<
p>Well, I guess Khazei has the Massachusetts Democratic billionaires vote all wrapped up.
