It has been several months since the disclosure of thousands of deleted emails by an aide to Boston Mayor Thomas Menino. There has been no mention of any prosecution for the apparent violation of the public records law. The aide who appeared to violate the law is back on the job.
Pitiful.

To charge him for each email would be a little excessive, but come on. It’s pretty obvious that he broke the law. His defenses are not really credible.

I’m sure the Globe or Herald will keep up the periodic FOIA requests. (hint)

First, the Mayor’s somewhat anal-retentive approach to public information is general public knowledge. Hence it wasn’t really an issue during the election. Most folks in the Hall were rooting for Kineavy, if for no other reason than contempt for the Globe. Most civilians didn’t care, one way or another.

p>Second, playing with the Globe is a form of political recreation on both the municipal and State level. (The Herald tends to have more and better sources inside City Hall and Beacon Hill, which is why they regularly scoop the Globe in political reporting.)
