No Public Option, No Mandate Pledge
Rep. John Olver MA – 01
Oppose a bill with an individual mandate if there’s no public option?:
Undecided on opposing
Comments: The staffer said Olver was “not too happy” about a bill without a public option. When I asked if he would support one that did impose individual mandates he said he did not know what the congressman’s views were. I smelled another “cave” in the making. I told him I opposed any bill without a public option and would get electoral revenge if he voted for one with a mandate but no public option. He said he’d pass my views along.

Comments: The lady who answered the phone wasn’t the heath care staffer and so didn’t know exactly how Olver would vote on the issues. I asked her to tell Olver for me “If there’s no public option, there shouldn’t be an individual mandate”

Comments: I asked where John Olver stands on mandate without public option (even though the public option is a ridiculous, costly joke). Staffer said that Olver has not yet taken a position.

Rep. Jim McGovern MA – 03
Oppose a bill with an individual mandate if there’s no public option?
Undecided on opposing
Comments:He is still studying the whole thing. Jim McGovern’s staff member stated that Jim wants some kind of health care bill passed. His preference is for the public option. He also wants a bill that moves us closer to some kind of public option, like an exchange.

Comments: DC office closed for holidays. Called Worcester office. Staffer who answered had not heard that Dems were said to be giving up the public option. She implied he would be supporting the retention of the public office, but said she would pass on my concern to ‘what’s-his-name’ – she got his name wrong, but corrected herself quickly.

If you have ten minutes, call your congressman and ask for their position on “No Public Option, no mandate,” especially:
Rep. Richard E. Neal MA-02
Rep. Niki Tsongas MA-05
Rep. Ed Markey MA-07
Rep. Stephen Lynch MA-09

I would go all the way to Kill The Bill.
All they have to do to declare a “public option” is make the fine print so Satanically evil it would not cover anybody anyway.
