However I do feel bad for all the cadets who were filmed falling asleep during the speech. You know they’ll be in trouble for it.

p>So… bottom line 30,000 more troops and then 18 months they’ll come home.
<
p>Maxine Waters was on MSNBC and said she (and the black caucus) would not be supporting the plan and would not vote for the funding of the plan. Sounds like trouble.

He’ll get a non-traditional majority with Republicans, but without some Democrats.

constantly about healthcare reform (without the completely transparent meetings at the White House being filmed on CNN???…) with him now needing those same Republicans “badly” for his Afghanistan policy is going to be so enjoyable.
<
p>Maybe he’ll be calling Sarah Palin to ask for her support on the war while on her book tour. She’s very familiar with the afghans because her grandmother made her an afghan throw when she was little.

What in the world is wrong with slamming someone for opposition on one issue while praising them for their support on another?
johndsays
while they get skewered by the same person on another issue? How well has it worked with Deval and the Lege?
and only consider what will happen to Americans. As brutal as this war will be to our soldiers, some of whom will certainly die for a lost cause, most of whom will return home without the proper support, ultimately it’s going to be the people of Afghanistan who face the brunt of this. It’s their war-torn country which will be torn asunder yet again, at least what’s left of it.
<
p>There is no way to win a war in the vast, mountainous country of Afghanistan, at least not without wiping out the population like Russia has essentially done to Chechnya. We need to stop thinking with our guns and start thinking about how to end the conflict through other means, which are probably far more likely to produce results in the long run.
johndsays
But you might have to help him with what “other means” are.

He’ll live to regret this decision, but thousands of others won’t.

I do support the President on this issue. I also hope ‘thousands’ is very wrong. It seems to be a bit of an exageration as well.
