The Washington Post has an article about the influence and legacy of the late Senator Kennedy. Senator Byrd said that his “aye” was for “my friend Ted Kennedy” and other Senators expressed regret that he did not live to see this day. A couple of Republicans griped that Kennedy would have done a better job reaching across the aisle. Victoria Kennedy witnessed the vote from the gallery. It was the brief last paragraph of the article that moved me:
The final vote was 60-39. By all accounts the senior Senator from Massachusetts voted present.
