The community system is vastly underfunded and can barely support the workforce it now employs. Even the Arc of Massachusetts and other facility closure advocates appear to understand that the continuing cuts in funding to the community system have imperiled its existence.
We are concerned that once these workers lose their jobs at Fernald, many of them are likely to remain out of work. Or is the administration going to have us believe that our vibrant economy will ensure that they find other jobs quickly?
