Just watched the Sunday 6 PM local news on WVCB Channel 5 and its coverage of President Obama’s campaign visit in support of Martha Coakley.
It is obvious that Channel 5 DARKENED President Obama’s skin tone much as TIME Magazine did to OJ Simpson when he was on its cover for the murder of his ex-wife.
Need you be reminded that WVCB Channel 5 has a stake in this race since Scott Brown’s wife, Gail Huff, is a field reporter for them.
Again, WCVB Channel 5 is playing games with President Obama’s skin tone to make him appear to have a darker skin tone which to some may be threatening and or menacing.
WCVB Channel 5 needs to explain its blatant behavior NOW.
J’Accuse Channel 5 of trying to influence this race in favor of Scott Brown !
ADDENDUM: HOW CHANNEL 5 DID IT !
Just watched a news summary on MSNBC and it is now clear how Channel 5 pulled this off. The Channel 5 cameraman shot the video of President Obama through the darkened Tele-Promptor glass plates on either side of the podium.
If you see the President walking up to the podium and he passes behind the glass plates his skin tone is two or three shades darker than it actually is. Of course, as soon as he passes by the camera picks up his normal skin tone.
So, it appears that Channel 5 intentionally shot the video of the President through the Tele-Promptor glass plates causing the President to appear to have a significantly darker skin tone.

It looks like all the stations used the same footage, so it was obviously the lighting in the auditorium. What I noticed is how gray his hair has gotten since he took office!

…because a Boston mayoral candidate whose last name is White had signs that said “Vote White” and tried to make it sound all racial and such.

‘Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean that people aren’t following you…… But seriously folks, I’m here all week in the lounge try the veal…. đŸ˜‰
<
p>I watched the rally live on both CNN and MSNBC and I know the color level and the lighting in the Northeastern gym and they did not affect the facial tones when broadcast live.
<
p>So, when it came on Channel 5 at 6 PM the change was stark and dramatic to all of us in the room.
<
p>With digital cameras you can do about any
thing.
<
p>Nonetheless, President Obama skin tone is not a dark cocoa
tint as it appeared on Channel 5.
<
p>An explanation is due from WCVB.
atticus says
Channel 4 has not run any footage of the rally since there is a football playoff game on.
christopher says
Their lighting appeared to make him seem slightly darker too. File under much ado about nothing.
atticus says
Camera feed and why was Martha Coakley not affected by the “darkening” ?
christopher says
…but the base color DOES effect the result. Coakley’s white skin probably reflects the light better than Obama’s darker skin so the lighting enhances the contrast. Again, absolutely nothing to get upset about.

Kevin Hagen White was running for Secretary of State against Edward Brooke who was new on the scene in 1960.
<
p>Kevin White’s campaign signs did read “VOTE WHITE” against the Black Edward Brooke.
<
p>Eventually Kevin White lost his mind completely to Alzheimer’s. Bad Karma comes back to hit you in the face or in White’s case in the brain.
<
p>Edward Brooke is 90 and still going strong.
christopher says
My point still stands about being able to use one’s last name. With the Alzheimers reference you have once again demonstrated your extremely offensive joy at the personal suffering of people with whom you disagree politically. That is completely uncalled for.
