Please, oh please, let the GOP nominee for the 10th Congressional seat be Joe Malone.
And please let the first question asked to him in a debate be “Hey, Joe, did the state get back all the money that was stolen from the Treasury when you were in charge?”
Just a reminder:
In February 1999, Attorney General Thomas Reilly charged 20-year Treasury employee John Trischitta with stealing $6.58 million from a treasury fund and funneling it to an accomplice in New Hampshire.
With cooperation from Trischitta, authorities the next month charged Deputy Treasurer Robert Foley with attempting to bilk the same fund for $2.4 million.
In total, more than $9.4 million walked out the door between 1992 and 1999. And when I say “walked out the door” I mean “walked out the door.” Guys were literally carrying bags of cash out of the State House.
There’s a reason why Malone disappeared for nearly a decade after losing to Cellucci in 2000.
So this is how the GOP is going to capitalize on the Scott Brown victory? By running Joe Malone? Why not see what Matt Amorello and Peter Blute are also doing? Is Larry Novak out of jail yet?
Yes, please remind the electorate in Massachusetts why the GOP fell so far in the first place.
