No surprise there. But they do so in terms that are worth repeating.
The Democratic nominee, Attorney General Martha Coakley, is a well-tested public servant who has won office both locally as the district attorney for the state’s most populous county, Middlesex, and statewide as the commonwealth’s top law-enforcement and consumer-protection official.
The Republican candidate, Scott Brown, a state senator, represents a suburban district outside of Boston and is known not for any original legislative thinking but for his well-pressed public persona.
Word.
Coakley is a common-sense progressive focused on the host of issues posed by the ongoing economic crisis, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the challenges of the future.
Brown is a know-nothing reactionary, a cookie-cutter conservative with the political imagination of a George W. Bush. He is committed to an array of positions that would return the nation to the dismal days of the Bush-Cheney years. He’s wedded to a failed past and hides from the perils of the future.
The choice is clear. The Phoenix urges citizens to vote for Coakley. She is the best choice for Massachusetts and the smartest choice for the nation.
Couldn’t’a said it better myself.
The rest is a nicely-done rundown of specific issues. This one is especially good:
On fighting terrorism, Coakley would acknowledge and respect national and international law, as well as human decency. Brown favors international arrogance and torture.
Yeah, pretty much.
A wonderful piece of writing that cuts through the bullshit and focuses us on the real issues. Thanks for pointing to it. There is ideological mahem going on out there right now. But even my most fiscally conservative, socially moderate acquaintances realize, when the simple facts and the clear record is laid out for them, that there is no real choice in this election. Martha is the only choice.
<
p>She may not be perfect; she may, in fact, be very far from perfect. But she is in the right place on most of the issues and she cares deeply about our commonwealth and our country.
<
p>Scott Brown is as unserious a person as he is wrong on the issues that matter most. Snap out of it Red Groupers. I know you are concervative, I know you are Republican, but this guy should not be your candidate. Take a step back. Martha is the only rational choice.

I am going to get my bong –take some tokes and make a date through the Phoenix personals.
Barney Frank said–Some say that if you limit the compensation of Wall Street executives you lose some of the best people. But I don’t know where they would go for comparable salaries. Maybe some of them are capable of playing major league baseball — but I’m not aware of any. Where else could they go to get comparable pay? I guess some …could star in major motion pictures. But I don’t know what else they could do.
<
p>Were the candidates even asked a hypothetical about a future war with Iran? Or a question about Iraq of the what we know now/what we knew then type?
