One resident was supposed to be taken out for an oral surgery procedure nine months ago. That still has not happened, apparently due to a lack of staff.

Two weeks ago, raw sewage came out of the faucet of a cottage at Malone Park. All of the residents of the cottages were taken to the Greene building, where they were left for hours in two rooms with no radio, TV, or anything to do.
A lack of preventive maintenance at Fernald has caused outbreaks of sewer flies in the cottages.
The two DDS adminstrators proceeded to tell Meagher and two other Fernald League Board members what a great job they've been doing managing the facility. The staff-to-resident ratio is actually up, they said.
And that's exactly the problem. If the staff-to-resident ratio is up, and yet staffing shortages are getting worse and worse, it is a clear indication of a significant failure to manage the facility adequately.
